2012 Federal Employees Benefits Open Season

The Annual Open Season for Federal employees is upon us again. This year's dates are November 14 through December 12, 2011. This is the time you should review all of your Federal Benefits, not just your health benefits.

The American Foreign Service Protective Association will be visiting the following locations in the Pacific to present the Office of Personnel Management Office's (OPM - the administrator of the Federal Employees Benefits Program), initiatives for the Program. We will cover not only the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program (FEHBP), but also FSAFEDS (Flexible Savings Account Program), the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP) and Federal Long Term Care Insurance Program (LTCIP) that are available to all Federal employees. In addition, for those of you nearing retirement we will discuss how the FEHB Program interacts with Medicare.

Regarding the FEHB Plan that we sponsor, we encourage you to review the Foreign Service Benefit Plan’s Web site at to review how the Plan has changed and enhanced its already generous High Option benefits and services.
